Upcoming Japanese Pokémon TCG Sets: Late 2026 Release Calendar

You collect Japanese Pokémon cards from overseas and you want to know what’s actually coming — not rumors, not trademark tea-leaf reading. Here is every Japanese release currently confirmed on official Pokémon Card Game pages, from July 31 through October 16, 2026, with yen prices and how to move on each one. Everything below was checked against pokemon-card.com and the official 30th anniversary site; if a set isn’t listed, it hasn’t been officially announced.

The confirmed calendar at a glance

Yen first, always — at recent exchange rates that’s roughly $1.40 a Storm Emeralda pack, $2.50 a 30th CELEBRATION pack, about $42 for the deck set, and about $185 for the FUTURISTIC BOX. Treat the dollar figures as ballpark; the yen prices are the official ones.

July 31: Storm Emeralda and three Starter Set ex decks

The next main booster is Storm Emeralda (ストームエメラルダ), part of the current MEGA series, releasing Friday, July 31, 2026. The official product page confirms the format: 5 random cards per pack at ¥200 (about $1.40). That ¥200 price point — up from the ¥180 packs of the Scarlet & Violet era — has been standard across MEGA-series boosters.

Same day, Japan gets three MEGA Starter Set ex preconstructed decks at ¥1,800 (about $12) each:

• Eevee ex (イーブイex)
• Zorua & Zoroark ex (ゾロア＆ゾロアークex)
• Sprigatito & Meowscarada ex (ニャオハ＆マスカーニャex)

Each contains a ready-to-play 60-card deck plus coin, playmat, damage counters, and guides. Note the official caveat: starter decks include reprints from earlier sets, so these are for playing or gifting, not for chase-card value.

September 16: the 30th CELEBRATION wave

The Pokémon TCG launched in Japan in October 1996, and the 30th-anniversary set is the fall centerpiece. Three products all land on Wednesday, September 16, 2026:

Expansion pack “30th CELEBRATION” — ¥360 (about $2.50) per pack, 6 cards, and per the official announcement every card in the set is foil, including basic Energy. It also debuts a brand-new rarity tier, Futuristic rare, with the first revealed cards being Mewtwo and Mew illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. The Pokémon Company’s own preview lists Espeon and Umbreon, Lapras, Zorua, and Lycanroc among the featured Pokémon, plus nostalgic reprints reaching back to Base Set Charizard.

Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon (エーフィ・ブラッキー) — ¥6,200 (about $42). Two complete 60-card decks (Espeon ex and Umbreon ex), two coins, a slide-style double deck case in tin, playmat, and accessories.

FUTURISTIC BOX — ¥27,500 (about $185). An accessory-heavy premium box: two Pikachu ex promo cards, metal damage dice and condition markers, a 64-sleeve set, flip deck case, display frame, and rubber playmat. The official 30th anniversary product listing flags this one as a Pokémon Center Online exclusive — which matters a lot for overseas buyers (more below).

October 16: nine 30th CELEBRATION Card Sets

A month later, on Friday, October 16, 2026, Japan gets nine versions of the 30th CELEBRATION Card Set at ¥1,200 (about $8) each. Every version contains three foil promo cards of one generation’s starter trio, two 30th CELEBRATION booster packs, and a paper card stand. The nine trios run the full timeline: Bulbasaur–Charmander–Squirtle through Sprigatito–Fuecoco–Quaxly.

For overseas collectors these are an interesting middle ground — a fixed, low-cost way to get generation-specific anniversary promos without gambling on packs. Expect the Kanto version to be the one that disappears first; that’s a pattern, not a promise.

So what for overseas collectors?

Three practical reads on this calendar:

Storm Emeralda is a classic “buy JP or wait for EN” decision. The Pokémon Company has not officially announced an English equivalent of Storm Emeralda as of this writing, but the established pattern is that Japanese main expansions reach international markets months later, with contents sometimes reshuffled and renamed. If you want the cards soon and cheap per pack, Japanese product is the route; if you want tournament-legal English cards, you wait. 30th CELEBRATION flips the usual logic. Because it launches worldwide on the same day, there’s no arbitrage window where Japan is the only source. The reason to buy the Japanese version anyway: the JP-exclusive products (the ¥360 6-card pack format, the Espeon & Umbreon deck set, the FUTURISTIC BOX, and October’s Card Sets) simply don’t exist in the international lineup, which centers on Elite Trainer Boxes and collection boxes instead.

The FUTURISTIC BOX is the hard one. Pokémon Center Online ships only within Japan, so an online-exclusive ¥27,500 box means using a proxy service — and anniversary exclusives are exactly the products that sell out or get purchase-limited. If you want it, have your proxy account ready before September, not on release day.

What is NOT confirmed (and why we’re not listing it)

As of mid-July 2026, the official pokemon-card.com product pages list nothing after October 16. Japanese hobby media are already speculating about a year-end high-class pack based on past cadence and trademark filings — historically plausible, but not announced. We only list releases we can verify on official pages, so November and December stay blank on our JP Release Calendar until the Pokémon Company says otherwise. When it posts, the calendar updates.
