Upcoming Japanese Pokémon TCG Sets: 30th CELEBRATION Sept 16

You collect Japanese Pokémon cards from overseas and you want two things: the name of the next set and its date. The next Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion is 30th CELEBRATION, out in Japan on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at ¥360 for a six-card all-foil pack — followed by nine 30th CELEBRATION Card Sets on October 16, 2026. Storm Emeralda, the set before it, already released on July 31, 2026. Everything below was re-checked against pokemon-card.com and the official 30th anniversary site on August 21, 2026; if a set is not listed here, it has not been officially announced.

What is the next Japanese Pokémon set?

30th CELEBRATION, releasing in Japan on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at ¥360 for a pack of six cards. The official site lists it simply as 拡張パック「30th CELEBRATION」, with no series label attached. Every card in it is foil — basic Energy included — and it is the first Pokémon TCG expansion to launch worldwide on the same day. Two more products land beside it that morning: the ¥6,200 Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon and the ¥27,500 FUTURISTIC BOX.

Japanese Pokémon TCG release dates for the rest of 2026

Two dates are confirmed for the rest of 2026 — September 16 and October 16. Nothing in November or December has been announced. Here is the whole calendar, including what has already shipped.

Every price above is the official Japanese tax-included figure published by The Pokémon Company. The yen numbers are the real ones; treat any converted figure as a ballpark.

What is the next Japanese Pokémon set after Storm Emeralda?

30th CELEBRATION, on September 16, 2026. Storm Emeralda (ストームエメラルダ) released on July 31, 2026 and is no longer upcoming — it is on shelves. No other MEGA-series booster has been announced between the two, so 30th CELEBRATION is the next expansion in the Japanese line.

Post-release, Storm Emeralda is a different purchase than it was in July. Packs are ¥200 for five cards, but the official set page never published a box MSRP: the “¥6,000” figure people quote is Pokémon Center Online’s own store listing (Amazon.co.jp shows ¥6,006 for the same barcode), and both of those channels were lottery- or invitation-gated. On August 6, 2026 the median ask for a sealed box across 19 Yahoo! Shopping listings was ¥25,000, in a ¥19,800–¥34,980 range. The full breakdown is in Storm Emeralda booster box price in Japan.

The three MEGA Starter Set ex decks shipped the same day at ¥1,800 each — Eevee ex (イーブイex), Zorua & Zoroark ex (ゾロア＆ゾロアークex) and Sprigatito & Meowscarada ex (ニャオハ＆マスカーニャex). Each is a ready-to-play 60-card deck plus coin, playmat, damage counters and guides, built largely from reprints, so they are for playing or gifting rather than chase-card value.

September 16: the 30th CELEBRATION wave

The Pokémon TCG launched in Japan in October 1996, and the anniversary set is the fall centerpiece. Three products all land on Wednesday, September 16, 2026:

Expansion pack 30th CELEBRATION — ¥360 per pack, 6 cards, and per the official announcement every card in the set is foil, including basic Energy. It debuts a new top rarity, Futuristic rare (FUR), with the first revealed cards being Mewtwo and Mew illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. The official preview lists Espeon and Umbreon, Lapras, Zorua and Lycanroc among the featured Pokémon, plus nostalgic reprints reaching back to Base Set Charizard.

Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon (エーフィ・ブラッキー) — ¥6,200. Two complete 60-card decks (Espeon ex and Umbreon ex), two coins, a slide-style double deck case in tin, playmat and accessories. Full contents and both deck lists: Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon.

FUTURISTIC BOX — ¥27,500. An accessory-heavy premium box: two Pikachu ex promo cards, metal damage dice and condition markers, a 64-sleeve set, flip deck case, display frame and rubber playmat. The official 30th anniversary listing flags this one as a Pokémon Center Online exclusive — which matters a lot for overseas buyers.

October 16: nine 30th CELEBRATION Card Sets

On Friday, October 16, 2026, Japan gets nine versions of the 30th CELEBRATION Card Set at ¥1,200 each. Every version contains three foil promo cards of one generation’s starter trio, two 30th CELEBRATION booster packs and a paper card stand. The nine trios run the full timeline, Bulbasaur–Charmander–Squirtle through Sprigatito–Fuecoco–Quaxly, and no card is shared between them — so if you want one trio, you want one ¥1,200 box, not all nine.

Is there a new Japanese Pokémon set after October 2026?

No — nothing after October 16, 2026 is officially announced. As of August 21, 2026, the pokemon-card.com product pages and news feed and the official 30th anniversary site list no Japanese Pokémon TCG set beyond that date. Two rumors are worth naming, because they are what people are actually searching:

• A Groudon and Kyogre MEGA set in 2026. There is no official product page, news post, date or price for any set built around Mega Groudon or Mega Kyogre. A Japanese-language check of the official site on August 21, 2026 returned nothing at all. What is circulating is speculation, not an announcement.
• Aura Seeker (ハドウシーカー). This one exists as a trademark filed by Nintendo, Creatures and Game Freak, reported in March 2026 — and that is all it is. The November 27, 2026 date attached to it online is not official. How to check any set rumor yourself: Aura Seeker — what’s actually confirmed.

Japan has historically released a high-class pack near year-end, so a November or December product would surprise nobody. It still stays blank on our JP Release Calendar until an official page exists. An announced Japanese set is never subtle: it gets a product page carrying the release date, the yen MSRP and the pack contents, usually alongside a post in the official news feed the same day.

So what for overseas collectors?

30th CELEBRATION flips the usual import logic. Because it launches worldwide on the same day, there is no window where Japan is the only source. The reason to buy the Japanese version anyway is that the JP-exclusive products — the ¥360 6-card pack format, the Espeon & Umbreon deck set, the FUTURISTIC BOX, October’s Card Sets — simply do not exist in the international lineup, which centers on Elite Trainer Boxes and collection boxes instead. The FUTURISTIC BOX is the hard one. Pokémon Center Online ships only within Japan, so a ¥27,500 online exclusive means a proxy or forwarding service — and anniversary exclusives are exactly the products that sell out or get purchase-limited. If you want it, have your account ready before September, not on release day.
