You saw a Japanese box with Mega Feraligatr, Mega Dragonite and Mega Gengar on the front and want to know what it is and whether you can get one. Special Deck Set MEGA (スペシャルデッキセットMEGA メガオーダイル・メガカイリュー・メガゲンガー) releases in Japan on Friday, November 13, 2026 at ¥5,500 including tax, and it contains three complete 60-card decks plus everything two players need to start. The Pokémon Company announced it on October 16, 2026. “Special Deck Set MEGA” is our translation of the Japanese product name; no English release has been announced.

The three decks, card by card
Each deck runs two copies of its Mega ex, both holo, plus one holo copy each of its Basic and Stage 1 Pokémon. That is 4 holo cards per deck and 12 per box. Three Trainer cards are shared across all three lists: Ultra Ball (ハイパーボール, 4 per deck), Boss’s Orders (ボスの指令, 2 per deck) and Lillie’s Determination (リーリエの決心, 4 per deck).

The official page highlights one attack or Ability per Mega ex:
- Mega Feraligatr ex (370 HP on the official card image): its attack キラークランチ (“Killer Crunch,” our translation) deals 400 damage in total if your opponent’s Active Pokémon already has damage counters on it. Glastrier’s spread attack sets that up by hitting the Active and Benched Pokémon for 20.
- Mega Dragonite ex (370 HP): its Ability スカイキャリー (“Sky Carry,” our translation) lets you switch your Active Pokémon with a Benched one once per turn, and its attack リューノグライド hits for 330 by discarding two Energy. Dragonair’s Ability searches your deck for an Evolution Pokémon.
- Mega Gengar ex (350 HP): its Ability かげかくし (“Shadow Hide,” our translation) means your opponent takes one fewer Prize card when one of your Darkness Pokémon is Knocked Out by damage from a Pokémon ex attack. Its attack ヴォイドゲイル does 230 for two Darkness Energy and moves an Energy to the Bench.
Japanese Supporters that differ by deck include ウエートレス, ガイ, ジャッジマン, メイのはげまし and ヒカリ. We have left those in Japanese because we could not confirm an official English card name for each one as printed in this product.
💡 What ¥5,500 actually buys
Three full 60-card decks at about ¥1,833 each, with a playmat and storage thrown in. Our MEGA Starter Set ex guide covers the single-deck boxes at ¥1,800 each, so the per-deck cost here is close, and you get two copies of each Mega ex instead of one starter deck's worth of cards.
Who this box is for
This is a starter product built for two people to sit down and play, not a chase-card product. The official page pitches it as a box for people about to start the Pokémon Card Game, which is why it carries three player’s guides that explain how each deck plays. There are no booster packs inside and no promo card is listed.
For an overseas collector, that points to three different buyers:
- Players who want Japanese decks to learn or teach with. You get three balanced lists, a playmat and counters in one parcel.
- Fans of one of the three Pokémon. Two holo Mega ex cards per deck is the draw, but buying the whole box for one Pokémon means paying to ship two decks you may not want.
- Sealed collectors of the Japanese MEGA era. The box art is the product. If that is you, condition of the outer box is the thing to check in listing photos.
If you are in group 2, compare the price of the specific Mega ex single after release against the full box plus shipping before you commit.
Can you preorder it, and is there a lottery?
Nothing is announced. The official product page, as checked on October 18, 2026, lists the name, price, contents and release date only. It does not mention a lottery, a preorder window, a purchase limit or Pokémon Center Online. We also could not find a Pokémon Center Online listing for this product as of October 18, 2026. If a lottery is announced later, it will appear on the official news list and on the product page.
That matters because Japanese retail is built for Japanese buyers. Pokémon Center Online and most Japanese shops sell to Japanese addresses, so an overseas collector reaches this box through a proxy or a forwarding service, not by ordering direct on release day.
🗼 What we can do about this
Special Deck Set MEGA sells into Japanese retail at ¥5,500, and the shops that stock it do not ship abroad. After November 13, tell us whether you want the sealed box or just one of the Mega ex cards, plus your ceiling. We check the live Japanese listings on Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions and shop stock, then send back a free report with the listings we would pick, the yen price, condition notes, and an all-in estimate including proxy fees and shipping to your country. You buy directly from the links. Our job is finding the best way to buy it from Japan and telling you.
The Tokyo Sourcing Desk is our own free service. Editorial policy.
How to buy Special Deck Set MEGA from overseas
Use a Japanese proxy after November 13 and search in Japanese. Our guide to buying Japanese Pokémon cards from overseas compares the four main routes and their fees in detail. For this box, the steps are short.
Shipping is where this box differs from a booster pack. It is three decks, a playmat, three deck boxes and a storage card box in one package, so the parcel is bulky. Combining it with other Japanese purchases in one shipment is the easiest way to spread that cost.
⚠️ A pre-release listing is a seller's promise, not a box
Special Deck Set MEGA does not reach Japanese shelves until November 13, 2026. Anything listed before then, in Japan or on eBay, is for a box the seller does not have yet, usually priced above ¥5,500 with photos of the official key art instead of the real item. Wait for listings with photos of an actual sealed box.
Does it have an English version?
None has been announced. The October 16, 2026 announcement covers the Japanese product only. Our upcoming Japanese Pokémon TCG sets list and the release calendar track Japanese dates; if an English product with these decks is ever announced, it will come through the English schedule, not this box.
If you plan to use these decks for play rather than display, check your own organizer’s rules on Japanese-language cards before buying. For casual games at home, card language is not an issue.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Special Deck Set MEGA cost in Japan?
The official suggested retail price is ¥5,500 including tax, for three 60-card decks plus accessories. That works out to roughly ¥1,833 per deck. Proxy fees and international shipping are on top if you buy from outside Japan, and a full-size box with a playmat is a heavier parcel than a pack or a single.
What is the English name of Special Deck Set MEGA?
No English product has been announced. Special Deck Set MEGA is our translation of the Japanese name スペシャルデッキセットMEGA メガオーダイル・メガカイリュー・メガゲンガー. Feraligatr, Dragonite and Gengar are the official English names of the Pokémon themselves.
Is there a lottery or preorder for Special Deck Set MEGA?
None is announced. The official product page, checked October 18, 2026, lists only the price, contents and the November 13, 2026 release date. It mentions no lottery, preorder window or purchase limit.
Are the cards in Special Deck Set MEGA new?
Some are not. The official page states that the product includes some cards that were previously released or distributed. The three Mega ex cards are printed as holos, and each deck adds holo copies of its Basic and Stage 1 Pokémon.
