30th CELEBRATION: What to Import from Japan Now, What to Wait For

Published Sep 6, 2026 Updated Sep 18, 2026 11 min read

The Rundown

  • The set is out. 30th CELEBRATION launched in Japan and in English on September 16, 2026, so the ¥360 booster pack is settled: buy English at home and skip the import.
  • Two Japanese products still have no announced English counterpart with the same contents: the ¥27,500 FUTURISTIC BOX and the nine ¥1,200 Card Sets, which release October 16, 2026.
  • The sealed ¥7,200 BOX has a real market price now. Across 44 single-box sales that closed on Yahoo! Auctions on September 17 and 18, the median was ¥20,000 and ¥20,500, about 2.8 times the official price.
  • The announced English lineup contains no sealed booster box. Its biggest pack counts are the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box at 11 packs and the standard Elite Trainer Box at 9, against Japan's ¥7,200 BOX of 20 packs.
  • JP Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon (¥6,200, out now) versus EN Battle Deck Espeon ex & Umbreon ex (October 30): two decks in one box against one deck per box, and the English contents are still unpublished.

30th CELEBRATION has been on sale for two days. Because it launched worldwide on September 16, 2026, the first Pokémon TCG set to do that, the packs themselves are already on your local shelf, and the import question has narrowed down to specific products. Two Japanese lines still have no English counterpart at all, the ¥27,500 FUTURISTIC BOX and the nine ¥1,200 Card Sets that release on October 16, and the ¥6,200 Premium Deck Set decision stays open until the English Battle Deck arrives on October 30. What release day added is a price: sealed Japanese boxes with a ¥7,200 list price closed on Yahoo! Auctions at a median of ¥20,000 on September 17 and ¥20,500 on September 18. This is the product-by-product map, read for someone looking at it after launch rather than before.

Is it still worth importing 30th CELEBRATION from Japan now that it’s out?

For three of the five Japanese product lines, and two of those three are decisions you make in October rather than today. Ordinary packs are settled, because English boosters landed the same day. The sealed ¥7,200 BOX has turned from an access question into a price question, and the price is now about 2.8 times list. The FUTURISTIC BOX and the nine Card Sets are the two rows where waiting for an English version gets you nothing at all.

All Japanese prices below are suggested retail on the official 30th anniversary site, tax included. All English dates are from the Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration product showcase on Pokémon.com.

One caveat applies to every “None announced” cell: absence from a published lineup is not a declaration of Japan exclusivity. The Pokémon Company has not said any of these products is Japan-only. What we can verify is what the showcase lists and what it does not, and the word FUTURISTIC does not appear in it at all. Both remaining Japanese dates are on our JP release calendar.

How much does a 30th CELEBRATION box cost now?

About ¥20,000 in Japan, against a ¥7,200 official price. We counted 44 single-box sales that actually closed on Yahoo! Auctions on September 17 and 18, multi-box lots excluded. The median was ¥20,000 on the 17th and ¥20,500 on the 18th, across 22 sales each day.

Sealed 30th CELEBRATION BOX, JapanFigure
Official list price¥7,200
Packs per box, cards per pack20 packs, 6 cards
Median closing price, Sept 17 (22 sales)¥20,000
Median closing price, Sept 18 (22 sales)¥20,500
Full range across all 44 sales¥17,110 – ¥22,000
Effective price per pack at ¥20,000¥1,000
Multiple of the ¥360 official pack priceabout 2.8×

¥20,000 split across 20 packs is ¥1,000 a pack, roughly 2.8 times the official ¥360, and the same multiple against the box price, because a Japanese box carries no bulk discount in the first place. ¥7,200 is exactly ¥360 × 20, which we work through in the ¥7,200 box breakdown. Buying in quantity does not help on the resale side either: an eight-box lot closed at ¥160,000 and a two-box lot at ¥40,000, both ¥20,000 a box.

That number is worth putting next to the reason this row exists. The announced English lineup routes packs through themed products rather than a display box: a Booster Bundle at 6 packs (October 2), an Elite Trainer Box at 9 packs and a Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box at 11 packs (both September 16), and an Ultra-Premium Collection Day & Night at 29 regular packs plus one Classic Collection pack (November 6). Nothing in that list is twenty sealed Japanese packs in a printed tray. The format reason to import is genuine. ¥20,000 is what that format costs on the open Japanese market two days after release, which is a description of a launch week and not a settled price.

Are 30th CELEBRATION singles cheaper than importing a box?

If you want specific cards rather than the sealed format, yes, and the gap widened fast. One of every card in the set at yuyu-tei (遊々亭) asking prices came to ¥237,300 on September 17 and ¥201,170 on September 18, a 15% fall across 164 listed cards in a single day.

Card, yuyu-tei asking priceSept 17Sept 18Change
Mew ex (FUR)¥19,800¥17,800−10%
Pikachu ex (SAR)¥14,800¥12,800−14%
Gengar ex (SAR)¥9,980¥6,980−30%
Mewtwo ex (SAR)¥7,980¥4,980−38%
Jirachi ex (SAR)¥6,980¥3,980−43%

The rest of the checklist is cheap. The median card is ¥320, and 113 of the 164 listed cards are ¥500 or less. Out-of-stock lines went from 11 to 24 across the same 24 hours, which is the other half of the picture: what falls fastest is also what a shop stops restocking. Two days is two days, though. This set only entered our daily tracker on September 17, so nobody, us included, has a series running back to release day. The full launch-week reading of both sides sits in 30th CELEBRATION prices in Japan, two days in.

⚠️ A launch-week quote is not a price

Every figure in this section is two days old, and one of those two days moved the whole set by 15%. Asking prices at a Japanese shop and closing prices on Yahoo! Auctions are both release-week numbers, taken while stock, listings and attention are all still in motion. Use them to compare one route against another today, not as a level to plan around next month. And check what a listing actually contains before you compare anything at all: "booster box" means different quantities in different markets, and this Japanese box is 20 packs of 6, not 36.

If you are buying to play rather than to collect, one more filter applies. Cards from this set cannot be used in the current Standard regulation, and the exception list for the expansion is exactly three reprints: ハイパーボール (Ultra Ball), ポケパッド (Poké Pad) and ポケモンいれかえ (Switch). A whole box is worth three playable card names.

Why the FUTURISTIC BOX and the Card Sets have no English answer

The FUTURISTIC BOX is the only product on the official Japanese page marked as a Pokémon Center Online item, and the Card Sets do not exist in English in any announced form. These are the two rows where waiting gets you nothing.

The ¥27,500 FUTURISTIC BOX is supplies-led, with two Pikachu ex promos, twelve metal damage dice, 64 deck shields, a rubber playmat, a display frame and a set of cases. The official page is specific about the channel: Pokémon Center Online, with the note 「後日全国のポケモンセンター、ポケモンストアで取り扱う可能性がございます。」, a possibility that Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store branches nationwide carry it at a later date. A possibility, with no date and no quantity attached. Pokémon Center Online restricts membership to residents of Japan and delivers inside Japan only, and its order right is valid for the applicant alone and cannot be transferred. That allocation is not a lane an overseas buyer can enter, directly or through anyone acting for them.

The nine Card Sets are the opposite problem: ordinary general-retail products at ¥1,200 each, with three foil starter promos, two 30th CELEBRATION packs and a paper card stand per box, per the official page, releasing October 16. There is no access barrier at all. There is just no English version, and you need someone standing in a Japanese shop on a Friday in October to get the specific trio you want out of nine near-identical boxes.

🗼 What we can do about this

The two rows with no English counterpart fail for opposite reasons: the FUTURISTIC BOX has an access problem nobody can solve, and the nine October 16 Card Sets have a presence problem we can work on. To be exact about the first one, Pokémon Center Online delivers inside Japan only and its order right is non-transferable, so no service can enter or claim its allocation on your behalf, us included. What the desk can do there is watch the official page for the nationwide Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store availability it hints at, check the Japanese shops, and tell you honestly whether anything real is listed. On the Card Sets it is straightforward: name the trio you want and we check the live Japanese market from October 16, then send a free report with the listings we would pick, the yen price against ¥1,200, condition notes, and an all-in estimate including proxy fees and shipping. You buy directly from the links, because our job is finding the best way to buy it from Japan and telling you.

Is the Japanese Premium Deck Set the same as the English Battle Deck?

No, and as of September 18, 2026 you still cannot run a like-for-like comparison, because the English page publishes no price, no card list and no accessory specifications. That is why the October verdict in the table above has not changed since this article first ran. The English deck is dated October 30, six weeks out. What both official pages do state is enough to show the products are not the same shape.

🇯🇵 JP Premium Deck Set (¥6,200)

  • Two complete 60-card decks in one box: Espeon ex and Umbreon ex
  • Out since September 16, 2026
  • Metal tin slide-open double deck case, paper playmat, 2 coins, 2 counter sheets, 2 guides
  • Page states the product includes cards reprinted from past series
  • Price published

🌎 EN Battle Deck (announced)

  • One 60-card deck per box: Espeon ex or Umbreon ex, you pick
  • October 30, 2026
  • Deck box, coin and playmat; no materials or dimensions given
  • Described as all-foil, with an illustration rare Victini or Zeraora
  • No price published

The one difference worth staring at is the foil claim. The English page calls its deck all-foil. The Japanese page does not describe its decks that way at all, and it carries the footnote 「本商品は、過去のシリーズのカードが一部再録されています」, meaning this product includes cards reprinted from past series. Those two statements are not comparable: one is a finish claim, the other is a sourcing note. From the two published pages you cannot tell whether the Japanese decks are foil, partly foil, or neither, and anyone telling you today which is the better buy is filling that gap with a guess. Our full breakdown of the Japanese box, including both 60-card lists, is in what’s inside the Premium Deck Set.

What is settled: if you want two ready-to-play decks and a tin case in a single purchase, the English Battle Deck does not do that at any price, because it is sold one deck at a time. The ¥6,200 is a published Japanese shelf price, so treat that as your yardstick and not whatever a reseller asks for the same box in launch month.

So what goes on the import list?

Sort it by what the English lineup can and cannot replace, not by release date.

✅ Import / wait, decided

  • Done: ordinary packs. English boosters landed September 16, the same day as Japan.
  • Import: the nine ¥1,200 Card Sets, October 16. No English version announced, general retail, low barrier, and you just need to name the trio you want in Japanese.
  • Import with the price checked first: the ¥7,200 BOX, if the 20-pack sealed format matters to you. The English lineup tops out at 11 packs. Japanese boxes were closing near ¥20,000 on September 17 and 18, so compare that against the specific singles you want.
  • Import with your eyes open: the ¥27,500 FUTURISTIC BOX. Pokémon Center Online allocation is closed to overseas buyers, so your realistic routes are the possible later Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store release, or the Japanese secondary market at a markup.
  • Hold until October 30: the Espeon/Umbreon deck. Two decks and a tin case only exist in the ¥6,200 Japanese box, but the English contents and price are still unpublished. Decide when they are not.
  • Consolidate: the Card Sets are a month behind the rest of the Japanese lineup. One parcel means paying storage or waiting for October 16; two parcels means paying freight twice. Pick deliberately.

The worldwide launch removed the reason most people had for importing this set, and it removed it only for the packs. Everything else on the Japanese side of the ledger is still a Japanese-shelf problem, and for two of those five rows, waiting for English is not a plan, because there is nothing to wait for.

Frequently asked questions

Is it too late to import 30th CELEBRATION from Japan?

For the packs, the question is closed: English 30th Celebration boosters released on September 16, 2026, the same day as Japan, so importing buys you a Japanese print rather than earlier access. For two products it is not too late at all, because they have not come out yet in any language. The nine ¥1,200 Card Sets release in Japan on October 16, 2026 with no announced English counterpart, and the English Battle Deck Espeon ex & Umbreon ex is dated October 30, 2026, so the ¥6,200 Japanese Premium Deck Set decision is still open.

How much is a 30th CELEBRATION box in Japan right now?

About ¥20,000, against an official ¥7,200. We counted 44 single-box sales that actually closed on Yahoo! Auctions on September 17 and 18, 2026, excluding multi-box lots: the median was ¥20,000 on the 17th across 22 sales and ¥20,500 on the 18th across 22 sales, inside a full range of ¥17,110 to ¥22,000. At ¥20,000 for 20 packs that is ¥1,000 a pack, roughly 2.8 times the ¥360 official pack price. Multi-box lots showed no bulk discount either: an eight-box lot closed at ¥160,000 and a two-box lot at ¥40,000, both ¥20,000 a box.

Did 30th CELEBRATION card prices drop after release?

In the two days we have data for, yes, and sharply. One of every card in the set at yuyu-tei's asking prices came to ¥237,300 on September 17 and ¥201,170 on September 18, a 15% fall across 164 listed cards in 24 hours. The chase cards moved hardest: Jirachi ex SAR went from ¥6,980 to ¥3,980 and Mewtwo ex SAR from ¥7,980 to ¥4,980. This set only entered our daily tracker on September 17, so two days is all anyone honestly has, and it is release-week movement rather than a trend.

Which 30th CELEBRATION products are not coming in English?

Strictly two have no announced English counterpart at all: the ¥27,500 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX and the nine ¥1,200 30th CELEBRATION Card Sets releasing October 16, 2026. Neither appears anywhere in the Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration product showcase on Pokémon.com. Two more Japanese products, the ¥7,200 sealed BOX and the ¥6,200 Premium Deck Set, have English near-neighbors that are different products rather than equivalents. Absence from an announced lineup is not the same as The Pokémon Company declaring a product Japan-exclusive, and no such statement exists for any of these.

How much will it cost me to import the products with no English version?

The goods themselves are the easy part: ¥1,200 per Card Set (¥10,800 if you buy all nine) and ¥27,500 for the FUTURISTIC BOX. Everything after that is not published anywhere. The official pages give no weights for the Card Sets, and international postage, proxy or forwarding fees, and your own country's duty or VAT all sit on top. What you can plan around is consolidation: one ¥1,200 box shipped alone is the worst freight-to-goods ratio in this lineup, and the Card Sets do not release until October 16 while the rest of the Japanese lineup is already out, so a single combined parcel means paying storage or waiting until mid-October.

Is there an English version of the Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon?

No product with those contents is announced. The international showcase lists a Battle Deck Espeon ex & Umbreon ex for October 30, 2026, described as an all-foil 60-card deck led by either Espeon ex or Umbreon ex, with a deck box, coin and playmat. The Japanese ¥6,200 set is two complete 60-card decks in one box with a metal tin double deck case, a paper playmat, two coins, two counter sheets and two guides. Same characters, different products, six weeks apart.

Should I still import Japanese 30th CELEBRATION packs now that the English set is out?

Only for reasons that have nothing to do with timing. September 16, 2026 was a worldwide simultaneous release, so day-one access was never a reason to import and certainly is not one now. The reasons that survive are the Japanese print of the artwork, Japanese-language cards, the ¥360 six-card pack format, and the sealed 20-pack BOX format that the announced English lineup does not offer at all.

Why does the English lineup have no booster box?

The Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration product showcase lists no sealed booster box or display for this set. Instead the English lineup routes packs through themed products: the Booster Bundle at 6 packs on October 2, the Elite Trainer Box at 9 packs and the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box at 11 packs on September 16, and the Ultra-Premium Collection Day & Night on November 6, which carries 29 regular packs plus one Classic Collection pack. Japan's ¥7,200 BOX of 20 packs has no direct equivalent in that list.
