MEGA Dream ex Card Prices in Japan: Mega Gengar ex SAR at ¥44,800
The Rundown
- On October 22, 2026 the SAR Mega Gengar ex (240/193) lists at ¥44,800 at yuyu-tei, the most expensive MEGA Dream ex single, but the shop has no copies in stock. A sealed box is ¥13,800 at Card Rush, 2.5 times the ¥5,500 list price.
- The MUR Mega Dragonite ex (250/193) and the SAR Pikachu ex (234/193) tie for second at ¥24,800. The SAR Mega Dragonite ex (246/193) is ¥22,800.
- Only six cards are ¥5,000 or more. yuyu-tei shows 485 separate listings for the set (250 collector numbers plus mirror variants), and 459 of them are ¥500 or less.
- The shop's buyback is ¥32,000 on the SAR Mega Gengar ex (71% of its ask) but ¥12,000 on the MUR Mega Dragonite ex (48%).
- The official box is 10 packs of 10 cards at ¥550 a pack. At Pokémon Center Online it is sold by lottery, so ¥5,500 is not a price you can simply click.

MEGA Dream ex (MEGAドリームex) is the Japanese high class pack that went on sale on November 28, 2025, and if you are pricing its chase cards from overseas, you need the yen numbers a Tokyo shop actually posts. On October 22, 2026, the top single is the SAR Mega Gengar ex at ¥44,800 at yuyu-tei (遊々亭), the MUR Mega Dragonite ex is ¥24,800, and a sealed box is ¥13,800 at Card Rush (カードラッシュ), against an official ¥5,500. Below are the 13 singles that matter, the box numbers, and what the shop’s own buyback says about each.
How much are MEGA Dream ex cards in Japan?
Six cards cost ¥5,000 or more, and almost everything else is pocket change. yuyu-tei shows 485 separate listings for the set, because many cards come in two mirror-foil versions under the same number; 459 of those listings are ¥500 or less, and the median is ¥120.
The table is yuyu-tei’s posted 販売 (hanbai) sell price and its 買取 (kaitori) buyback price, both read from the shop’s live pages on October 22, 2026. A sell price is a shop listing, not a completed sale, and a “sold out” mark means you could not buy at that price that day. This is one large Tokyo shop; Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions and other stores keep their own numbers.

| Mega Gengar ex | メガゲンガーex | 230/193 | MA | ¥2,480 | ¥1,100 | In stock |
The trainer card カナリィ appears in Japanese because we could not confirm its official English card name. MA is the Mega Attack Rare, a rarity this set introduced according to the official product page. If MUR, SAR and MA are new to you, start with Japanese rarities explained.
Two things stand out. The most expensive card is an SAR, not the set’s single MUR. And Mega Gengar ex and Mega Dragonite ex each appear twice in the table, at very different prices, which matters when you read an overseas listing title (more on that below).
How much is a MEGA Dream ex booster box in Japan?
The official price is ¥5,500 for 10 packs of 10 cards. On the open market, Card Rush lists a sealed box at ¥13,800 on October 22, 2026, with 41 in stock. That is about 2.5 times list, or ¥1,380 a pack against the official ¥550.
| Where | What | Price (Oct 22, 2026) | Can you just buy it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pokémon Center Online | Sealed box, 10 packs × 10 cards | ¥5,500 | No. Lottery sale only |
| Card Rush | Sealed box | ¥13,800 | Yes, 41 in stock |
| Card Rush | Sealed box, condition A- | ¥12,800 | No, sold out |
| Official pack price | 1 pack, 10 cards | ¥550 | Depends on the shop |
The ¥5,500 figure is real, but it is a lottery price. Pokémon Center Online’s listing is marked 抽選販売 (chūsen hanbai, lottery sale), and it states that anyone who has already bought this box from the store loses the lottery automatically. For most collectors, and for anyone overseas, the price you can actually pay today is the shop price. The official product page itself gives ¥550 including tax, 10 cards per pack and the November 28, 2025 release date; the 10-packs-per-box count comes from the Pokémon Center Online listing. Our booster box guarantees by set table puts that configuration next to other Japanese boxes.
What does the buyback say about the top cards?
The buyback is what the shop pays with its own money, so it is the nearest thing to a floor a public page gives you. On MEGA Dream ex it splits the top cards into two groups.
The MEGA Dream ex spread
yuyu-tei, October 22, 2026 · bar = buyback as a share of the same shop's asking price
- SAR Mega Gengar ex 240/193 buys back ¥32,000 (71%)asks ¥44,800
- SAR Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 237/193 buys back ¥9,000 (70%)asks ¥12,800
- SAR N's Zoroark ex 242/193 buys back ¥4,200 (70%)asks ¥5,980
- MUR Mega Dragonite ex 250/193 buys back ¥12,000 (48%)asks ¥24,800
- SAR Pikachu ex 234/193 buys back ¥12,000 (48%)asks ¥24,800
- SAR Mega Dragonite ex 246/193 buys back ¥11,000 (48%)asks ¥22,800
Bars show the ratio, not the amount. The three cards near 70% are the ones where the shop's ask and its own buying price sit closest together.
The SAR Mega Gengar ex is the clearest case. The shop has none on the shelf and offers ¥32,000 to anyone who brings one in, 71% of its ask. The MUR Mega Dragonite ex, the SAR Pikachu ex and the SAR Mega Dragonite ex all sit at 48%, with 2 to 5 copies in stock. A wide gap like that usually means the shop has room to move; a narrow one with an empty shelf means it does not. None of this predicts where a price goes next, and we are not suggesting anyone buy a card to resell it. The general method for reading these two pages on any card is in how to check what a Japanese card is worth.
Should you buy a sealed box or the single?
For one named card, the single. Three Card Rush boxes (¥41,400) cost less than the Mega Gengar ex SAR’s ¥44,800 ask, but no official source tells you what is inside any box. The Pokémon Company publishes no pull rates for this set, and the official product page only says cards are inserted at random.
⚠️ Loose packs are not a cheaper box
Listings that sell MEGA Dream ex packs in ones and fives look like a way to try your luck for less than ¥13,800. Card Rush's own product page warns that the loose packs it sells are bought back from customers, so their hit rate can differ greatly from normal insertion. A loose pack from an unknown seller may already have been picked over. If you want to open MEGA Dream ex, buy a sealed box from a shop; if you want a specific card, buy that card by its collector number.
🗼 What we can do about this
The top MEGA Dream ex card is sold out at the biggest single-card shop, and the box you can actually buy costs 2.5 times its list price. That means the useful question is where a copy exists right now and what it costs at your door. Send the collector numbers you want, whether that is 240/193 alone, the SAR row, or a sealed box, and we check the live Japanese listings (shop stock, Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions) and send back a free report: the listings we would pick, the yen price, condition notes, and an all-in estimate including proxy fees and shipping to your country. If buying locally works out cheaper, the report says so. You buy directly from the links. Our job is finding the best way to buy it from Japan and telling you.

The pack arithmetic makes the same point from the other side. At the official ¥550, the SAR Mega Gengar ex’s ask equals 81 packs and the MUR Mega Dragonite ex’s equals 45. Even at the shop price of ¥1,380 a pack, you would need more than 32 packs of open-market product to spend what the Mega Gengar ex single costs. God packs, where nearly every card in a pack is a hit, have been reported for this set by a single compiler and are not acknowledged by The Pokémon Company; our god pack explainer covers what is and is not confirmed.
What are the official facts, and what is not confirmed?
The official product page states four things: ¥550 including tax, 10 cards per pack, random insertion, and a release date of Friday, November 28, 2025. It also says the set introduced the MA (Mega Attack Rare) rarity and includes mirror-foil cards with energy-symbol and Poké Ball patterns.
What it does not state is the box size or the card count. The box size comes from Pokémon Center Online (1 box = 10 packs). For the card count, the main numbering runs to 193, and yuyu-tei lists collector numbers up to 250/193, which would put 57 cards above the main set. The official card search returned an error when we checked on October 22, 2026, so we have not confirmed that count or any individual card’s rarity from an official page; the rarity codes in the table are yuyu-tei’s.
💡 Where the money is
The five most expensive singles add up to ¥130,000 at today's asks. The next eight in the table add up to ¥27,840. Below that, every listing is under ¥2,000, and the most expensive mirror-foil variant is ¥980.
How do you compare an overseas listing with the Japanese price?
Search by collector number, not by name, then add your fixed costs to the yen figure. “Mega Gengar ex MEGA Dream ex” can return the MA at ¥2,480 or the SAR at ¥44,800; “240/193” returns one card.
If you want to see how the overseas market prices the same print, an eBay search for Mega Gengar ex 240/193 japanese (paid link) shows live listings to set against the ¥44,800 shop ask. Compare raw with raw and graded with graded; they are different products.
✅ Before you pay for a MEGA Dream ex chase card or box
- Match the number: 240/193 is the SAR Mega Gengar ex, 230/193 the MA; 250/193 is the MUR Mega Dragonite ex, 246/193 the SAR.
- Note the date on any yen price you use. Ours is October 22, 2026.
- Check the stock line, not just the ask. A sold-out price is not a price you can pay.
- Add proxy fees and shipping to the Japanese number before comparing.
- For a box, confirm it is sealed and from a shop, not loose packs.
MEGA Dream ex has been on shelves for almost eleven months, so these are the prices of a settled set rather than a launch week. Read them as a description of where Tokyo shops have priced it on October 22, 2026, not as a forecast.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a MEGA Dream ex booster box cost in Japan?
The official price is ¥5,500 including tax for 10 packs of 10 cards, which is the ¥550 pack price times ten. Pokémon Center Online sells it by lottery, though. On the open market, Card Rush listed a sealed box at ¥13,800 with 41 in stock on October 22, 2026.
What is the most expensive card in MEGA Dream ex?
At yuyu-tei on October 22, 2026, the SAR Mega Gengar ex, 240/193, at ¥44,800. The shop had no copies in stock, so that is a posted price rather than one you could pay that day. The MUR Mega Dragonite ex, 250/193, and the SAR Pikachu ex, 234/193, were next at ¥24,800 each.
How many cards are in MEGA Dream ex?
The main numbering runs to 193, and yuyu-tei lists collector numbers up to 250/193, the MUR Mega Dragonite ex. Many common cards also come in mirror-foil variants with the same number. The official product page does not print a card count, and the official card search did not load for our check, so we have not confirmed the total from an official page.
Is a MEGA Dream ex box cheaper than buying the chase cards?
For one named card, no. Three sealed boxes at Card Rush's ¥13,800 cost less than the SAR Mega Gengar ex's ¥44,800 ask, but The Pokémon Company publishes no pull rates, so nothing guarantees a box contains any particular card. Buy the box for the opening, and the single for the card.
