Champions League 2027 Yokohama: Typhoon 25 Cancels Day 2
The Rundown
- One day of three was cancelled: September 21 (Mon, holiday). September 20 ran in full, including the afternoon session, and September 22 is going ahead per the official update posted in the 1pm hour on September 21.
- The cancelled day carried the Master League day-2 preliminaries (5,000 seats) plus the Senior and Junior day-one tournaments (1,000 seats each), so up to 7,000 entrants lost their only playing day.
- Compensation splits by how you got in. Priority entry right (優先出場権) holders carry that right over to Champions League 2027 Chiba. General lottery entrants get 出場権利の次回持ち越し・個別の補填対応等はございません: no carryover and no individual compensation.
- There is one softener for general entrants: the September 21 win is now recorded system-side as 未当選 (not selected), which puts those players into the lottery-chance system from Chiba onward.
- Nobody is penalized for staying home. The notices state that skipping the day does not count as an unannounced cancellation, which normally risks a ban from future events. There is also no make-up event: 中止となった場合の代替開催はございません.

If you were holding a seat for Champions League 2027 Yokohama on Monday, the short version is that your day is gone and the tournament is not. September 21 was cancelled for Typhoon No. 25 (台風25号). September 20 ran in full, and the official update posted in the 1pm hour on September 21 says September 22 goes ahead as planned. What you get back depends entirely on how you got your seat, and the split is sharper than most people expect.
This article reflects the official notices as of September 21, 2026. The September 22 status still carries a published caveat, so treat the section on it as conditional and check the live page before you move.
Is Champions League 2027 Yokohama cancelled?
No. One day of three was cancelled. Here is the whole event laid against what the official notices actually say, including which leagues were on the floor each day and what entrants for that day are owed.
| Date | Status | Leagues scheduled that day | What entrants get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sept 20 (Sun) | Held. The September 20 notice says 午後の部も予定通り行います, the afternoon session ran as planned | Master League day-1 preliminaries, 5,000 seats. No general spectating on this day | Played as normal |
| Sept 21 (Mon, holiday) | Cancelled | Master League day-2 preliminaries (5,000 seats), Senior League day-one tournament (1,000), Junior League day-one tournament (1,000) | Priority entry right: carried over to Champions League 2027 Chiba. General lottery: no carryover, no individual compensation, result recorded as 未当選 |
| Sept 22 (Tue, holiday) | Going ahead. Start times and tournament format may change depending on early-morning transport conditions | Master League final stages, Senior and Junior day-two tournaments. Free general spectating | Playing as scheduled, subject to that caveat |
Two structural things follow from the published tournament format, and they are worth stating plainly because the notices do not spell them out.
The Master League preliminaries were split across the 20th and the 21st, with each player assigned to one of those two days and 5,000 seats on each. On the published format, day-3 entry is for players who clear their preliminary. So a Master entrant drawn onto day 2 has no route into the September 22 final stages. The other 5,000 already have theirs.
The Junior and Senior events are different again. Those are one-day tournaments that crown a winner per day, not two halves of one thing. The Sept 21 entrants in those leagues did not lose half an event. They lost all of it.
What the notices actually said, in order
The official site handled this as four separate numbered pages rather than one page it kept editing, which is why so much confusion is circulating in English.
Each page carries a banner linking to the one that replaced it. If you are reading a screenshot someone posted on Sunday, you are reading a superseded page.
Priority entry versus general lottery: the asymmetry
This is the part that actually costs money, and the organizer published it in advance on September 19 rather than after the fact.
🎟️ Priority entry right (優先出場権)
- The right carries over to Champions League 2027 Chiba
- Details to be announced later (後日改めて詳細をご案内いたします)
- No application step has been published
- Earned from 2026 season results in Japan: CL2026 Aichi May records, PJCS2026 placings, a CL2026 top 4, or a CSP ranking
🎲 General lottery entry
- No carryover to the next event
- No individual compensation
- The wording is flat: 出場権利の次回持ち越し・個別の補填対応等はございません
- Partial softener: the day is logged as 未当選, so the lottery-chance system applies from Chiba onward
Read that gap honestly. A priority right is a competitive credential you earned by playing in Japan last season, and the organizer treats it as a durable asset that survives a weather event. A general lottery seat is a draw outcome, and the organizer treats it as spent.
For an overseas entrant the asymmetry lands hard, because almost none of the priority routes are reachable on a first trip. Every one of them requires competitive results inside Japan during the previous season, as we set out in the full eligibility breakdown for this event. If you flew in for Yokohama, you were on a general lottery seat by definition, which puts you in the column that gets nothing back.
The one thing you did get is the September 21 loss on your record, and it is worth more than it sounds. The Championship Series 2027 policy defines the lottery-chance system as raising the win probability of players who have accumulated more losses since the last event they won. It is a queue position, not a ticket. It also does not apply to the Japan Championships 2027, which the policy page excludes by name.
🗼 What we can do about this
If your Yokohama seat evaporated on Monday, your next realistic shot is Champions League 2027 Chiba in November, where the same rule applies: only Japanese-language cards are legal on the floor, and Japan's deepest singles inventories are domestic shop counters and Japanese marketplaces that do not ship abroad. Send the desk the list you intend to play and we check those inventories for you: shop singles stock, Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions. You get back a free report with the specific listings we would pick card by card, the yen price for each, condition notes read out of the Japanese wording, and an all-in estimate including proxy fees and shipping to your country. Through one proxy account the whole list travels as a single parcel rather than postage per playset. You buy directly from the links, because our job is finding the best way to buy it from Japan and telling you. What no service can do, and we are not going to pretend otherwise: restore a cancelled day, move a general lottery seat to Chiba, or obtain compensation the organizer has said does not exist.

Am I penalized for not showing up?
No, and the organizer went out of its way to say so on every notice in the chain.
💡 The no-penalty line, verbatim
「なお、本大会は当日に参加を見送られた場合も無断キャンセルのペナルティの対象とはなりません。」
Our translation: "Please note that even if you decide to forgo attending on the day, this tournament will not be subject to the penalty for unannounced cancellation." It appears in the September 19, 20 and 21 notices, unchanged each time.
That line is doing real work. The standing tournament outline for this event says that a player absent on the day without a legitimate reason may be unable to participate in future events. The typhoon notices suspend that exposure for these days. If you looked at the forecast and stayed put, you are clean.
⚠️ Nothing about your flight or your hotel is covered by any of this
The September 18 notice states 中止となった場合の代替開催はございません: if cancelled, there is no substitute event. Entry itself was free, so there is no ticket money to refund, and the notices say nothing at all about travel. A general lottery entrant who flew in for the 21st has no claim anywhere in this process. Whatever is recoverable sits with your airline, your hotel or your travel insurer under their own typhoon policies, and it is worth checking those today rather than after you get home, because several carriers set short windows on weather waivers. Do not wait for an announcement from the organizer, because the published position already covers this and the answer is no.
What is still happening on September 22
As of the September 21 update, the 22nd runs. The notice opens with 明日、9月22日(火・祝)は予定通り開催します, “tomorrow, September 22, will be held as planned,” and then repeats the caveat that start times and the tournament format may change depending on early-morning transport conditions.
What is on the floor that day, from the published schedule: the Master League final stages, with reception 7:30 to 8:45, the first final stage 9:10 to 14:45 and the second 15:00 to 20:00; plus the Junior and Senior day-two tournaments, each with reception 7:30 to 8:30. Venue hours are 7:30 to 21:00 at Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Halls A to D. That top-8 Master cut is the one that pays a Worlds 2027 berth, after the berths doubled from four to eight on September 18.
The 22nd is also the only remaining day anyone can walk in. General spectating at this event is free and needs no lottery, but it was only ever available on the 21st and the 22nd, and the 21st is gone.
If you are in Yokohama right now
We were not on the floor, so we are not going to describe a queue or a crowd we did not see. What we can give you is the checkable list.
✅ Before tomorrow morning
- Reload notice 005688 and look for a successor banner at the top. Every page in this chain got one within a day. The status you read tonight may not be the status at 7am.
- Deck registration closes at 8:30 JST on the day, in Players Club, for Master League day 3 and for the Junior and Senior day-two tournaments. Missing it carries a penalty and the typhoon notices do not touch that deadline.
- Bring original photo ID. Master and Senior are subject to identity checks at this event, and a passport is on the accepted list.
- Check transport before you check the notice. The organizer's own caveat is explicitly about early-morning transport conditions, so the trains are the leading indicator here.
- Master League players: your smartphone with LINE and Sekanavi is the tournament. Matching, timers and result reporting all run through it. Tablets are not accepted.
- Spectating needs nothing. Free, no lottery, on the 22nd only.
If your event was the 21st and you are now sitting on a spare day in Yokohama, the honest answer is that there is no tournament to salvage and no paperwork to file. The competitive calendar picks back up at Chiba in November, which is the next Champions League of the season and the one your priority right moves to if you hold one. We mapped the rest of the season, all five events and their weekends, in the Championship Series 2027 guide for overseas players. The account and deck work that gates a Japanese entry is the same for Chiba as it was for Yokohama, and it is the only part of this you control.
Frequently asked questions
Is Champions League 2027 Yokohama cancelled?
No. Only September 21 was cancelled. September 20 was held in full, and the official update posted during the afternoon of September 21 states that September 22 will run as planned, with a caveat that start times and the tournament format may change depending on early-morning transport conditions. The Master League final stages are on the 22nd and the organizer confirmed on September 19 that those would run even if the 21st fell.
Do I get a refund or a make-up event for the cancelled Champions League day?
There is nothing to refund, because entry to Champions League 2027 Yokohama is free (参加費用: 無料). There is also no make-up event: the September 18 notice states 中止となった場合の代替開催はございません, meaning no substitute date will be held. Travel costs are outside the organizer's notices entirely, so any recovery there runs through your airline, hotel or insurer, not through the Pokémon Card Game site.
Will I be penalized if I decided not to travel to Yokohama in the typhoon?
No. Every notice in the chain repeats the same line: 本大会は当日に参加を見送られた場合も無断キャンセルのペナルティの対象とはなりません. Skipping the day is not treated as an unannounced no-show. That matters because the standing tournament outline says a player who is absent on the day without a legitimate reason may be barred from future events, and this wording lifts that risk for the typhoon days specifically.
I had a priority entry right for September 21. What happens to it?
It moves to the next event. The notices state that applicants who entered on a priority entry right have that right carried over to Champions League 2027 Chiba, with details to be announced later. No mechanism, no deadline and no application step has been published yet, so the only thing to do now is watch the official news index for the Chiba event page.
What is the lottery-chance system and does it help me?
It is the official tie-breaker for oversubscribed Champions Leagues: when entries exceed seats, players who have lost more draws since the last event they won are given a higher win probability. The September 21 update states that the cancellation means the day's winning result is recorded as 未当選, so general lottery entrants for that day count as having lost a draw and become eligible for the system from Chiba onward. It raises your odds in a future draw. It does not reserve you a seat.
