Champions League 2027 Yokohama: Entry Extended to August 21

If you read the August 14 deadline on Champions League 2027 Yokohama and filed the whole thing under “missed it,” unfile it. On August 17 the Pokémon Card Game official site extended an entry window that had already been shut for three days. Entry now runs to Friday, August 21 at 12:00 JST, and the lottery result moves to Friday, August 28 at 14:00 JST. The tournament itself does not move: September 20–22 at Pacifico Yokohama.

That is a second window on a free entry, and most of the English-speaking audience found the original announcement too late to use the first one.

Can I still enter Champions League 2027 Yokohama?

Yes. Entry closes Friday, August 21 at 12:00 JST — the official site extended it on August 17, three days after the original cutoff had already passed. The lottery result moves with it, to Friday, August 28 at 14:00 JST.

Here is what changed and what didn’t.

The change is not just in the standalone notice. The tournament outline now carries 「※8/17（月）更新」 — “updated Mon 8/17” — next to both the 受付期間 (reception period), which reads 8月7日（金）14:00～8月21日（金）12:00, and the 抽選結果発表 (lottery result announcement), which reads 8月28日（金）14:00. Two independent official pages agree, which is the check worth doing before you act on a date.

Why the deadline moved

The notice is unusually plain about the cause, and it is worth reading in the original rather than through a summary.

So: a routing problem, not a rules problem. Anyone who went looking for the Yokohama details from the season schedule page — which is exactly the path a planner takes, since that page is the one listing all five Champions Leagues of the season — could have landed somewhere other than the tournament they were trying to enter.

We checked that schedule page. It now lists Champions League 2027 Yokohama as September 20 (Sun), 21 (Mon, holiday), 22 (Tue, holiday) at Pacifico Yokohama for Junior, Senior and Master leagues, with its 詳しくはこちら link pointing at the Yokohama announcement. What the wrong link used to point to is not stated in the notice, and we’re not going to invent it. The 23-day window is what this fix cost everyone

The event did not move, so the extension came entirely out of the planning runway. August 28 to September 20 is 23 days. It was 30.

There is no way to get that week back, but there is a way to make losing the lottery survivable: general spectating requires no lottery, costs nothing and is open to anyone — on September 21 and 22 only. There is no general spectating on September 20. A ticketless traveler who arrives for the Sunday opening day sees the outside of the building.

Who the extra week actually helps

Not everyone is on the same odds, and the outline is explicit about it. Two mechanisms sit on top of the draw, and an overseas first-timer is on the wrong side of both.

Priority entry rights (優先出場権). Applicants who cleared any of the following go into the draw with a priority right:

• Champions League 2026 Aichi May: Master with 10 or more combined wins across prelims and the first final stage; Junior, Senior and Open with a final prelim record of two losses or fewer.
• Pokémon Japan Championships 2026: Master finishing in the top 250; Junior and Senior in the top 100.
• Any Champions League 2026 event: top 4 in any league.
• The early-May 2026 CSP ranking: Master top 40; Junior and Senior top 30.

Every one of those requires having played competitive Pokémon inside Japan during the last season. If you are flying in for your first Japanese event, you have none of them.

The loss-weighted draw. If applications exceed seats, the outline says the lottery raises the win probability of players who have accumulated more losses since the last event they won, counting Champions League events held between September 2025 and June 2026 plus the 2026 Japan Championships card game division. It is a fairness mechanism for regulars, and it is inert for a newcomer — no entry history means no accumulated losses to cash in.

So the honest read is that the extra week helps you get in the draw, not through it. What it does not do is change your odds relative to a Japanese regular.

What you can control in three days

Not the lottery. The deck.

The regulation section states it once and the what-to-bring list repeats it: 「レギュレーションに沿った日本語のカードのみ、使用可能」 — only Japanese-language cards conforming to the regulation may be used. Standard regulation, 60 cards, 6 prizes, signed cards not permitted in principle. The gameplay differences between Japanese and English prints are essentially nil, which is exactly what makes this rule so annoying: your deck is functionally correct and legally unusable.

The other controllable is the account and the app layer, and it takes longer than people expect. Master League entry requires your own Player ID, your own smartphone (tablets including iPad are explicitly excluded), your own LINE account, and Sekanavi (セカナビ) installed — pairings, timers and result reporting all happen there. Whether an overseas collector can complete Players Club registration at all is the open question we could not resolve, and we laid out exactly what we could and could not confirm in the full eligibility breakdown. The line the official pages have not reconciled

One detail did not get updated with the rest, and it’s the kind of thing worth flagging rather than smoothing over.

The outline says Master League prelim entry times on days one and two differ by group, that you cannot choose your group, and that each group’s time will be announced over LINE — 「大会登録いただいた後、8月21日（金）より「LINE」にて、順次お知らせいたします。」 (“after you complete tournament registration, we will notify you in sequence via LINE from Friday, August 21”).

But 大会登録 in Sekanavi is something winners do, and winners are not known until August 28 at 14:00. As of our check, that August 21 line carries no update marker while the two lines above it on the same page do. Either the notifications now follow the new result date, or something else is intended; the pages do not say, and we are not going to pick one. If you enter Master League, treat your entry time as unknown until it arrives in LINE.

It is a live planning problem, not a trivia point. The groups are real and the spread is wide: the outline lists final matching cutoffs of 17:00 for Group A and 18:30 for Group B on day one, and 15:30, 18:00, 19:00 and 20:00 for Groups C through F on day two, with a matching window of five and a half hours from check-in. Which group you land in changes when you can leave the venue by hours — and you find that out after you’ve booked.

If you’re entering before Friday

The whole calculation here is unusually clean, because one side of it is genuinely zero. Entering costs nothing and risks nothing but a few minutes; the priced decisions all sit on the far side of August 28.
