30th CELEBRATION Card Sets: All 17 Pokémon Centers Lottery-Only Oct 16

Published Oct 15, 2026 11 min read

The Rundown

  • 17 of 17 Japanese Pokémon Center stores sell the October 16 30th CELEBRATION card sets by LINE lottery only. Every notice states there is no general sale during October 16–18, 2026.
  • The draw closed on October 12 at 23:59. Entries opened October 8 at 14:00, results went to winners only from October 14 at 12:00, and winners buy in an assigned 30-minute slot.
  • The limit is one of each of the nine ¥1,200 sets per winner, one entry per person, and the notices ask you not to enter at several stores or dates because only one win counts.
  • Five stores differ: Shibuya starts at 12:00, Okinawa ends at 17:00, Kyoto publishes day-by-day hours, Tokyo Bay guarantees each winner at least one set, and Nagoya omits the no-show clause.
  • No notice mentions ID, a Japanese phone number or the Pokémon Center app. What they require is LINE installed, a smartphone showing the live ticket screen, and the winner in person.

You are in Japan this week, or you have someone there, and the nine ¥1,200 30th CELEBRATION card sets go on sale on Friday, October 16, 2026. The obvious plan is to be at a Pokémon Center when the doors open. You cannot walk in and buy one. As of October 15, 2026, every one of the 17 Japanese Pokémon Center stores sells the card sets on October 16–18 by advance LINE lottery only, the entry window closed on October 12, and no store plans a general sale in that window. We read all 17 notices today; here is what they say, store by store, and what that leaves for a buyer outside Japan.

Can I walk into a Pokémon Center on October 16 and buy a 30th CELEBRATION card set?

No. All 17 stores posted the same notice on October 8, 2026: purchases on October 16–18 are limited to lottery winners in an assigned 30-minute slot, with no general sale during the lottery period. The draw was entered through a LINE mini-app between October 8 at 14:00 and October 12 at 23:59, and results went to winners only from October 14 at 12:00. Twelve of the 17 notices are word-for-word identical apart from the store name and the application URL, Sapporo differs only in how it formats the times, and five stores differ in substance, marked in bold below.

Every notice gives the same reason, 「混雑緩和、危険防止のため」, to ease crowding and prevent danger, and every notice asks you not to apply at several stores or on several dates because only one win is honored. Every notice also warns that stock is not set aside per day or per slot, so a winner with a Sunday afternoon slot may find some of the nine types sold out. Tokyo Bay is the one store that promises each winner at least one of the nine; the other 16 do not.

The product itself has not changed since we covered it in August: nine sets, one starter trio per region, ¥1,200 each, and the official contents image above (three holo promos, two packs, one paper stand) is from the official product page linked in the sources. The full list of Japanese set names and the arithmetic on what ¥1,200 buys are in our 30th CELEBRATION card sets guide.

What the notices say a winner physically needs

A smartphone with LINE installed that can display the purchase ticket screen, and the winner in person during the assigned slot. That is the whole published list. The notices are specific about what they require and silent about the things overseas readers usually ask.

✅ Required by all 17 notices, and what they leave out

  • LINE installed. The application URL opens an authorization screen and the notice states that LINE must be installed on the device.
  • A smartphone showing the live ticket screen. Staff operate the 購入整理券画面 (purchase ticket screen) at the register themselves. Screenshots, saved images and printouts cannot be used to buy.
  • The winner, in person. Proxy pickup and transfer of the winning right are refused in every notice: 「必ずご本人様がお越しください」.
  • One entry per person, within the window only. Changes and cancellations after the window closed are not accepted.
  • Not mentioned anywhere: a Japanese phone number, photo ID, the Pokémon Center app, nationality or residency. The notices do not say, so we are not saying either.

The absence of an ID line is worth reading carefully rather than optimistically. Nothing in these notices says a passport will be checked. Nothing says it will not. What the notices do say is that the ticket lives inside the LINE account that entered, and that staff handle the screen, so the practical identity check is possession of that account on that phone. Our September comparison of four shops’ in-store draw rules, including Mega Tokyo’s previous 30th CELEBRATION round, found the same design: the win is welded to the entrant, and no shop publishes a route for a third party.

1
Enter through the store's LINE URL (closed October 12, 23:59)Tap a date, pick a 30-minute slot, apply once. The notices warn that the URL was hard to reach right after opening and right before closing.
2
Results from October 14, 12:00, winners onlyNotification comes through the LINE mini-app notice account. Losing entrants hear nothing, and the stores say they cannot answer questions about the draw.
3
Arrive inside your slot, October 16–18Sixteen notices state that missing the slot voids the win. Nagoya's notice asks you to come within the slot but does not spell out the cancellation.
4
Staff process the ticket screen, you pay list priceUp to one of each of the nine sets, subject to what is left when your slot comes up. Expect a queue; the notices say waiting time depends on the day's crowd.

So what for overseas collectors?

If you are outside Japan, the Pokémon Center route is closed to you for this release, and not because of a residency clause. The entry window has passed, the ticket exists only inside a LINE account on a phone, and the person who entered has to stand at the counter. That is three separate walls, and even a friend in Japan who entered for themselves cannot hand you their win, because the notices refuse transfer and proxy pickup in the same sentence.

What remains is the step after the counter. From the first purchase slots on Friday, October 16, winners can list what they bought, and Japanese secondary-market listings on Mercari and Yahoo! Auctions become the realistic way to get a set abroad, through a proxy such as Buyee. The one number to hold onto is ¥1,200, the suggested retail price printed on the official page for every one of the nine sets. We are not quoting secondary prices here, because on October 15 there are no real post-sale listings yet to quote, and anything you see priced today is a promise rather than a product.

🗼 What we can do about this

The Pokémon Center draw for these card sets is closed to anyone who is not standing in Japan with the LINE account that entered, and we cannot enter it for you. What the desk does is the next step. Once the first winners' sets reach Mercari and Yahoo! Auctions from October 16, tell us which starter trio you want and we check the live Japanese listings, then send back a free report naming the listings we would pick, the yen price against the ¥1,200 list price, condition notes, and an all-in estimate including proxy fees and shipping to your country. You buy directly from the links. Our job is finding the best way to buy it from Japan and telling you.

The eBay side will fill in more slowly, since a Japanese winner has to buy, list and ship before anything appears there. If you would rather watch that market than go through a proxy, the search is Pokemon 30th Celebration card set japanese on eBay (paid link). Check the listing date against October 16 before you read the price.

⚠️ The costly mistake: paying a premium for a "pre-order" of a lottery-only set

Before October 16 nobody outside The Pokémon Company's own channels holds these sets, and the only published retail route in Japan this week is a Pokémon Center draw that closed on October 12 with one set of each type per winner. A listing dated before the first purchase slot is a seller promising to win a lottery, or to buy from someone who did, at a markup on a ¥1,200 item. The same goes for treating the October 16 date as shelf stock: all 17 notices say there is no general sale during October 16–18 and that a later general sale is undecided, so a day trip built around the release weekend ends at a counter that only serves ticket holders.

What happens after October 18?

The notices do not say. Every one of the 17 carries the line 「今後の一般販売は未定となります」, future general sale undecided, and asks customers not to contact the store about it. That is different from saying the sets will not be sold over the counter later; it is a refusal to commit either way. If you read it as “wait a week and walk in,” you are guessing, and the stores have said in writing they will not confirm a date.

Two details in the notices matter for anyone planning a later visit. First, stock is not held per slot, so what is left after three days of winners is whatever the winners did not take, and the notices already warn that some of the nine types may sell out before the end of the window. Second, this LINE mini-app draw is the same template Mega Tokyo used for its September 30th CELEBRATION round, with the same live-ticket rule and the same “general sale undecided” line, so a quiet shelf sale on October 19 would be a change in behavior rather than a continuation of it.

For readers routing through Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya or Fukuoka, the regional stores are under exactly the same notice as Tokyo, with Kyoto and Okinawa on shorter hours. Our guide to Pokémon cards outside Tokyo already flagged the Osaka notice, and the card-shop chains in those cities were running their own 30th CELEBRATION draws, so a card shop is not a side door around the Pokémon Center lottery either. Which Japanese retailers run lotteries you can legitimately enter from abroad, and which do not, is tracked on our JP Lottery Tracker.

One last honest note. We read 17 web pages today; we did not stand in any of these stores, and we have no visibility into how much stock each store received or how many entries it took. The notices are the whole of what we know, and they are linked in the table so you can read the Japanese yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 30th CELEBRATION card set sold by lottery at Pokémon Center?

Yes, at every Japanese Pokémon Center store. All 17 stores posted a notice on October 8, 2026 saying the nine 30th CELEBRATION card sets are sold on October 16–18 by advance lottery through a LINE mini-app, with no general sale planned during that period. Entries closed on October 12 at 23:59, and winners were notified from October 14. The notices say a later general sale is undecided.

Can tourists enter the Pokémon Center LINE lottery?

The notices do not mention nationality, residency, a phone number or ID. What they require is LINE installed on a smartphone, one entry per person, and the winner coming in person during the assigned 30-minute slot to show a live ticket screen that staff operate. Proxy pickup and transferring a win are refused, and screenshots or printouts are not accepted. For this round the entry window has already closed.

How much is a 30th CELEBRATION card set?

¥1,200 including tax, the suggested retail price on the official 30th anniversary site. Each set holds three holo promo cards of one generation's starter trio, two 30th CELEBRATION expansion packs with six random cards each, and a paper card stand for three cards. There are nine sets, one per region, and a Pokémon Center lottery winner may buy one of each.

Can I just walk into Pokémon Center Shibuya or Mega Tokyo on October 16 and buy one?

No. Both stores' notices state that there is no general sale planned during the October 16–18 lottery period and that purchases are limited to lottery winners in their assigned slots. Shibuya's slots run 12:00–19:00 and Mega Tokyo's 11:00–19:00. Each notice also says the store cannot answer questions about future sales, so calling ahead will not get you a date.

What do I need at the counter if I win the Pokémon Center card set lottery?

According to the notices: a smartphone that can display the purchase ticket screen inside the LINE mini-app, which staff operate themselves at the register, and your own presence within the assigned 30-minute slot. The notices say saved images, screenshots and printouts cannot be used, and that a representative cannot collect for you. They do not list any ID requirement.
