Pokémon Cards Outside Tokyo: Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Fukuoka Stores
The Rundown
- Osaka is the best city outside Tokyo for Pokémon cards: it has two Pokémon Centers (Osaka in Umeda, Osaka DX in Shinsaibashi) plus three verified card-shop branches around Namba and Nipponbashi.
- Kyoto, Nagoya and Fukuoka each have one Pokémon Center and two or three verified card-shop branches; in Fukuoka, a Card Labo sits in the same Hakata Marui building as the Pokémon Center.
- Every regional Pokémon Center we checked lists 10:00–20:00, except Fukuoka (10:00–21:00) and Yokohama (10:30–20:30), per official store pages on October 11, 2026.
- New sets are allocated by lottery outside Tokyo too: Pokémon Center Osaka's 30th CELEBRATION card sets (Oct 16–18) are LINE-lottery only, with no general sale in that window.
- Pokémon Card Station, an official play-and-shop space selling booster packs and supplies, sits inside the Osaka, Nagoya, Tohoku (Sendai), Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Kagawa Pokémon Centers.

You have a Japan trip that runs through Osaka, Kyoto or Fukuoka, and every Pokémon card guide you find is about Tokyo. Outside Tokyo, Osaka is the best bet: two official Pokémon Centers plus a walkable card-shop cluster in Namba. Nagoya and Fukuoka come next, and Kyoto works as a short stop near Kyoto Station. Every store below was checked against its own official page on October 11, 2026. We have not visited these stores in person, so this guide covers where they are and when they open, not what is in the cases.
Where are the best places to buy Pokémon cards in Japan outside Tokyo?
Go to Osaka first: Pokémon Center Osaka (Umeda) and Pokémon Center Osaka DX (Shinsaibashi) for sealed product at list price, then Namba and Nipponbashi for singles. In Nagoya, Fukuoka, Kyoto, Sapporo, Sendai, Hiroshima and Yokohama, plan on one Pokémon Center plus one or two card shops.

Staying in Tokyo for part of the trip? The capital has its own guides: Tokyo Pokémon card shops and every open Pokémon Center in Tokyo.
⚠️ Release weekends are lottery-only, even in Osaka
Pokémon Center Osaka's notice for the 30th CELEBRATION card sets says purchases on October 16–18, 2026 are by advance lottery through a LINE mini-app: applications from October 8 at 14:00 to October 12 at 23:59, winners notified from October 14, one of each item per person, and no general sale during the lottery period. It also asks you not to apply at several stores or dates, since only one win counts. The Kyoto, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Hiroshima, Tohoku and Yokohama pages carry a notice with the same title. If your trip lands on a release, read the store's news page before you go, or you may arrive to find nothing on sale.
Osaka: two Pokémon Centers and the Namba card shops
Osaka is the only city outside Tokyo with two Pokémon Centers, and its card shops sit within a short ride of the second one.
Pokémon Center Osaka is at Umeda 3-1-1, about five minutes on foot from the central exit of JR Osaka Station. Its official page now names the building LUCUA South 13F. Older official pages, including the Pokémon Card Station page, still call the same floor Daimaru Umeda 13F, so if your map app or an older guide says Daimaru, it is the same place. A Pokémon Card Station operates inside it. Expect timed entry on busy days: for Saturday, October 10 the store announced entry tickets from around 8:00, one per person, valid that day only.
Pokémon Center Osaka DX is on the 9th floor of the Daimaru Shinsaibashi Main Building, connected underground to exit 4 of Shinsaibashi Station on the Midosuji Line.
For singles, there are three verified branches in Namba and Nipponbashi. Both Card Labo pages list Pokémon Card Game packs and singles, and Hareruya2 describes itself as a Pokémon card specialist chain (ポケカ専門店):
- Hareruya2 Namba (晴れる屋2 なんば店): COCONAMBA 5F, Namba Sennichimae 7-10, Chuo-ku. Weekdays 12:00–21:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–21:00, with an 80-seat free play space.
- Card Labo Namba (カードラボ なんば店): Yasuda Building 1F, Nipponbashi 3-8-16, Naniwa-ku. The page notes it moved up from B1 to 1F. Weekdays 11:00–20:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–20:00.
- Card Labo Osaka Nipponbashi (カードラボ 大阪日本橋店): Ikeda Building No. 2, 5F, Nipponbashi-nishi 1-1-3, Naniwa-ku, about 10 minutes from Nankai Namba Station. Same hours as the Namba branch.
Kyoto: one Pokémon Center, two shops by Kyoto Station
Kyoto works best as a short stop, because the Pokémon Center and the card shops are in two different parts of town.
Pokémon Center Kyoto is on the 2nd floor of SUINA Muromachi in the Kyoto Economic Center building, directly connected to exit 26 of Hankyu Karasuma Station and close to Shijo subway station. That puts it in the Shijo shopping district, not at Kyoto Station.
The two card shops we could verify are both near Kyoto Station:
- Card Labo Avanti Kyoto (カードラボ アバンティ京都店): Kyoto Avanti 6F, one minute from the subway’s Kyoto Station. Open 10:00–21:00 every day, the earliest weekday opening of the two.
- Hareruya2 Kyoto (晴れる屋2 京都店): UI Building 6F, Higashinotoin-dori Shichijo-sagaru, Shimogyo-ku. Weekdays 12:00–21:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–21:00.
Nagoya: Osu is the card district
Nagoya’s Pokémon Center and its card district are one subway stop apart, which makes it an efficient half day.
Pokémon Center Nagoya is on the 2nd floor of Nagoya PARCO’s East Building, connected directly to Yabacho Station on the Meijo Line. A Pokémon Card Station operates inside, and the Card Station page lists its hours as 10:00–21:00, following PARCO’s hours, while the store page says 10:00–20:00. Plan around the earlier time.
Osu, next to Kamimaezu Station, has two verified branches:
- Card Labo Nagoya Osu (カードラボ 名古屋大須店): Banshoji Building 1F, Osu 3-30-40, three minutes from Kamimaezu exit 9. Open 11:00–20:00 every day.
- Hareruya2 Osu (晴れる屋2 大須店): Z’s Building 4F, Osu 4-11-5. Weekdays 12:00–21:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–21:00.
A third option sits by the main station: Card Labo Nagoya Ekimae, two minutes from the Taiko-dori exit of JR Nagoya Station, open Monday to Thursday 12:00–21:00, Friday 12:00–22:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–22:00. It is the late option for evening Shinkansen arrivals.
🗼 What we can do about this
A regional trip gives you one or two card shops per city and a single afternoon, and on release weeks even those shops sell the new set by lottery. If the card you want was not in the cases you had time to check, or your route never reaches a card shop at all, send us the list. We check the live Japanese listings (Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions, shop stock) and send back a free report with the listings we would pick, the yen price, condition notes, and an all-in estimate including proxy fees and shipping to your country. You buy directly from the links. Our job is finding the best way to buy it from Japan and telling you.

Fukuoka: Hakata for the Pokémon Center, Tenjin for shops
Fukuoka’s Pokémon Center closes an hour later than most regional centers, and a card shop shares its building.
Pokémon Center Fukuoka is on the 2nd floor of Hakata Marui, three minutes from the Hakata exit of JR Hakata Station, open 10:00–21:00 with a Pokémon Card Station inside. Five floors up, Card Labo Hakata Marui (カードラボ 博多マルイ店) is on 7F of the same building, open 10:00–21:00, and its page lists Pokémon packs and singles. That is the simplest sealed-plus-singles stop of any city here.
Tenjin, a short subway ride away, has two more:
- Card Labo Fukuoka Tenjin (カードラボ 福岡天神店): JMF Building Tenjin Nishidori 01, 2F, Tenjin 2-8-22, three minutes from Tenjin Station exit 3. Weekdays 11:00–20:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–20:00.
- Hareruya2 Fukuoka (晴れる屋2 福岡店): BPR Square Tenjin Daimyo 2F, Daimyo 2-1-53, Chuo-ku. Weekdays 12:00–21:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–21:00.
💡 Pokémon Card Station is an official shop-and-play counter
The Pokémon Card Game site describes Card Station as a permanent space for battles, rules help and product, including booster packs, sleeves, playmats and deck cases, with a "card concierge" on staff. Outside Tokyo it operates inside the Osaka, Nagoya, Tohoku, Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Kagawa Pokémon Centers. Events need a free Players Club account.
Sapporo, Sendai, Hiroshima and Yokohama
Each of these cities has one Pokémon Center near its main station, and all but Yokohama have at least one verified card shop.
- Sapporo: Pokémon Center Sapporo is on Daimaru Sapporo 8F, connected to JR Sapporo Station. Card Labo Sapporo (カードラボ 札幌店) is at Marudai Building 4F, Minami 2-jo Nishi 1-5, three minutes from Odori Station, open 12:00–21:00.
- Sendai: Pokémon Center Tohoku is on Sendai PARCO1 3F with a Card Station. Card Labo Sendai is on E BeanS 8F, two minutes from the west exit of JR Sendai Station (10:00–20:00), and Hareruya2 Sendai is at KOTOBUKI Building 3F South, Chuo 2-6-6 (weekdays 12:00–21:00, weekends 10:00–21:00).
- Hiroshima: Pokémon Center Hiroshima is on ekie 2F right next to the Shinkansen gate, with a Card Station, so it fits into a station transfer. Card Labo Hiroshima is in the Animate Building 3F, Otemachi 2-3-1, about five minutes from Kamiyacho-nishi tram stop (weekdays 11:00–20:00, weekends 10:00–20:00).
- Yokohama: Pokémon Center Yokohama is on Yokohama Sky Building 8F, open 10:30–20:30. Its notice says it handed out timed entry tickets on weekends and holidays through October 12, 2026, starting from 9:30.
Card Labo’s own branch pages also show that its regional shops run lotteries for new sets. Notices for 30th CELEBRATION lottery sales appear on the Nipponbashi, Namba, Avanti Kyoto, Nagoya Osu, Nagoya Ekimae, Fukuoka Tenjin, Hakata Marui, Sapporo and Hiroshima pages, so a card shop is not a way around the Pokémon Center lottery for a new release.
What we could not verify, and other options
We could not confirm Card Rush, Suruga-ya or Yellow Submarine branches in these cities, because their official store-list pages returned errors or were not reachable on October 11, 2026. The pop-up Pokémon Card Stores, which ran in malls including Shijonawate (Osaka) and Omuta (Fukuoka), closed on October 4, 2026, so none is operating as of this writing.
Hard Off and Book Off are found all over Japan and sell secondhand cards store by store; see Hard Off and Book Off for Pokémon cards for how those chains work.
Tax-free rules do not change by city: ¥5,000 or more before tax at one store on one day, with your physical passport. From November 1, 2026 you pay the full price and the tax is refunded after Customs checks at departure. The full rules are in buying Pokémon cards tax-free in Japan.
✅ Before a regional card day
- Pokémon Center hours re-checked on its official page the week you travel
- Store news page read for any lottery or timed-entry notice on your dates
- Card shop hours noted: many open at 11:00 or 12:00 on weekdays, later than the Pokémon Centers
- Passport in your bag for tax-free, plus space in your carry-on
Frequently asked questions
Which Japanese city is best for Pokémon cards besides Tokyo?
Osaka. It is the only city outside Tokyo with two official Pokémon Centers (Pokémon Center Osaka in Umeda and Pokémon Center Osaka DX in Shinsaibashi), and the Namba and Nipponbashi area has three card-shop branches whose official pages list Pokémon packs and singles. Nagoya and Fukuoka are close behind, each with one Pokémon Center and three verified card-shop branches.
Is Pokémon Center Osaka still in Daimaru Umeda?
It is at the same Umeda 3-1-1 address either way. The official store page now gives Umeda 3-1-1, LUCUA South 13F, about five minutes on foot from JR Osaka Station's central exit, open 10:00–20:00. Some older official pages, including the Pokémon Card Station page, still describe the same 13th floor as Daimaru Umeda.
Can I just walk into a Pokémon Center in Osaka or Kyoto on release weekend?
Not always. For the 30th CELEBRATION card sets, Pokémon Center Osaka runs an advance lottery through a LINE mini-app for purchase slots on October 16–18, 2026, with one of each item per person and no general sale during that period. The Kyoto, Nagoya, Fukuoka and other regional store pages list a notice with the same title. Check the store's news page before you build a day around a release.
Can I buy Pokémon cards tax-free outside Tokyo?
The national rules are the same everywhere: ¥5,000 or more before tax at one store on one day, your physical passport, and goods you carry out yourself. From November 1, 2026 Japan moves to a refund method, so you pay the full price and get the tax back after Customs checks at departure. Whether a particular card shop offers tax-free is a question to ask at the register.
Do regional Pokémon Centers sell single cards?
No. Pokémon Centers sell sealed product at list price, promos and accessories, the same as the Tokyo stores. For singles you need a card shop, such as the Card Labo and Hareruya2 branches in Namba, Kyoto Station, Osu and Tenjin listed in this guide.
