Published Oct 6, 2026 8 min read

The Rundown

  • The MUR Mega Darkrai ex (118/081) lists at ¥34,800 at yuyu-tei on October 6, 2026, down from ¥39,800 on September 17. The SAR print (114/081) is ¥19,800, down from ¥24,800.
  • Every other Abyss Eye single is under ¥4,000. The next most expensive are the SAR ムク (117/081) at ¥3,980 and the SAR Morpeko ex (115/081) at ¥3,480.
  • The shop's buyback on the MUR fell from ¥28,000 to ¥12,000 in the same 19 days, so it now pays 34% of its own ask, against 70% on September 17.
  • One of every one of the 118 cards cost ¥99,470 on September 17 and ¥86,710 on October 5. The two Mega Darkrai ex prints are 63% of that total.
  • Packs are still the official ¥200 for 5 cards. The MUR's ask is the price of 174 packs.

Abyss Eye (アビスアイ) has been on Japanese shelves since May 22, 2026, and the question overseas collectors keep asking is what its chase cards actually cost in yen. The answer is one card and then everything else: the MUR Mega Darkrai ex is ¥34,800 at yuyu-tei (遊々亭) as of October 6, 2026, the SAR print is ¥19,800, and no other single in the set is above ¥4,000. Below are those prices, how they moved over the 19 days we have sampled them, and what the shop’s own buyback figure says about them.

How much are Abyss Eye cards in Japan?

Packs are ¥200 for 5 cards. Singles at yuyu-tei run from ¥30 to ¥34,800, the median card is ¥80, and 107 of the 118 cards are ¥500 or less. The money is concentrated in two Mega Darkrai ex prints.

The figures below are Yuyu-tei’s listed sell price, sampled daily by us since September 17, 2026, with the shop’s buyback price from its matching 買取 (kaitori) page. We checked the live sell page again on October 6, 2026 and the top six cards matched the October 5 snapshot exactly. This is one large Tokyo shop, not the whole market; Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions and other shops will each have their own numbers.

Three of the cards are trainers whose official English names we could not confirm, so they appear in Japanese with a reading: カスミの元気 is a Misty card, グラジオの決戦 a Gladion card, and ムク a trainer we are leaving as Muku rather than guessing a localization. Rarity codes are the shop’s and the official site’s; if MUR and SAR are new to you, see Japanese rarities explained.

What the Mega Darkrai ex MUR is worth to the shop itself

The ask on 118/081 fell once, from ¥39,800 to ¥34,800 on September 29. The buyback fell twice, from ¥28,000 to ¥20,000 on September 24 and then to ¥12,000 on September 29. That second line is the more informative one.

A Japanese shop publishes two prices for the same card. The 販売 (hanbai) price is what it charges you. The 買取 (kaitori) price is what it pays someone who brings the card in, with its own money on the line. The ask tells you what the shop hopes to get; the buyback tells you what it thinks the card is reliably worth today.

The Abyss Eye spread

yuyu-tei, October 5, 2026 · bar = buyback as a share of the same shop's asking price

  • MUR Mega Darkrai ex 118/081 buys back ¥12,000 (34%)asks ¥34,800
  • SAR Mega Darkrai ex 114/081 buys back ¥10,000 (51%)asks ¥19,800
  • SAR ムク 117/081 buys back ¥2,800 (70%)asks ¥3,980

  • SAR Morpeko ex 115/081 buys back ¥1,800 (52%)asks ¥3,480
  • SAR Mega Zeraora ex 112/081 buys back ¥1,200 (48%)asks ¥2,480

Bars show the ratio, not the amount. On September 17 the MUR bar would have been at 70%; it is now the lowest of the six.

On September 17 the shop offered 70% of its own ask for the MUR. Today it offers 34%, while still listing 5 copies for sale. Read plainly: the shop is happy to sell the copies it has and much less keen to buy more. The SAR print moved the other way, from 48% to 51%, because its ask fell faster than its buyback.

Not every card went down. The shop raised its buyback on the SAR ムク from ¥2,000 to ¥2,800 with the ask unchanged at ¥3,980, and on the SAR Mega Zeraora ex from ¥1,000 to ¥1,200 even as that card’s ask dropped. None of this predicts where any price goes next. It describes what one professional buyer was willing to commit to on a given day, which is the closest thing to a floor that a public page will give you. The general method for reading these two pages on any card is in how to check what a Japanese card is worth, and the live series for this and other sets is on our Japanese price tracker.

Is a ¥3,000 Abyss Eye card worth importing on its own?

Usually not. On a single card under ¥4,000, the proxy fee and postage cost more than the card. The arithmetic is short.

⚠️ The fixed costs are bigger than the card

Take the SAR Morpeko ex at ¥3,480. Add a proxy service fee of up to ¥800 per item and Japan Post EMS at ¥3,900 for the lightest bracket to the US (the rate in our shipping cost breakdown), and you are at about ¥8,180 landed, of which the card is 43%. Before import charges. The same fixed costs on the ¥34,800 MUR add about 13%. A lone mid-tier single from this set only makes sense from Japan when it rides in a parcel with other things you were buying anyway.

This is the real dividing line in Abyss Eye. Two cards are expensive enough that the overhead of buying from Japan is a small share of the total. The other 116 are cheap enough that the overhead dominates unless you bundle. A collector chasing the SAR set (114 through 117, plus 112 and 113) is looking at about ¥33,300 in asks at today’s numbers, which is a basket size where one shipment starts to make sense.

🗼 What we can do about this

Abyss Eye splits into two cards where the yen price is the whole question and 116 cards where the shipping is. Either way, the number that matters is what lands at your door, not the shelf price. Send the collector numbers you want from this set and we check the live Japanese listings (shop stock, Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions) and send back a free report: the listings we would pick, the yen price, condition notes, and an all-in estimate including proxy fees and shipping to your country. If bundling the cheap SARs with a Mega Darkrai ex is what makes it work, the report shows that; if buying locally is cheaper, it says so. You buy directly from the links. Our job is finding the best way to buy it from Japan and telling you.

What the official facts are, and what they are not

The official Pokémon Card Game product page states three things: ¥200 including tax, 5 cards per pack, on sale Friday May 22, 2026. That is the only fixed price in the set, and it has not changed.

The official card search returns 118 cards for the set’s M5 code. The main numbering runs to 081, so everything from 082/081 up is a secret rare, and the official listing for 118/081 Mega Darkrai ex carries the MUR rarity mark. The product page does not publish packs per box, and we are not quoting a box count as official.

💡 Packs against singles

At ¥200 a pack, the MUR's ask equals 174 packs and the SAR Mega Darkrai ex equals 99. The median single, at ¥80, costs less than half a pack. For any one named card in this set, the singles list is the cheaper route; packs are for people who want the opening.

We also looked for an announced English-language counterpart. The Pokémon Company International’s site would not load for our checks, so we could not confirm one from an official page and this article does not name one.

How to find the Mega Darkrai ex outside Japan

Search by collector number, not by name. “Mega Darkrai ex” returns the SAR, the SR and the MUR mixed together, and an SR at ¥680 in Tokyo can sit in the same search grid as a ¥34,800 MUR. “118/081” narrows it to the one card.

If you want to see how the overseas market prices the same print, an eBay search for Mega Darkrai ex 118/081 japanese (paid link) gives you live listings to compare against the ¥34,800 shop ask. Graded copies and raw copies are different products, so compare like with like: a raw Japanese copy against the yuyu-tei number plus your proxy and shipping costs, a graded copy against other graded copies.

✅ Before you pay for an Abyss Eye chase card

  • Match the collector number: 118/081 is the MUR, 114/081 the SAR.
  • Check the date on any yen price you are quoting. Ours is October 6, 2026.
  • Read the buyback next to the ask. On the MUR it is now about a third.
  • Add proxy fees and shipping to any Japanese price before comparing.
  • Confirm condition from the listing photos, front and back.

We will keep sampling the same two yuyu-tei pages every day. The series started on September 17, 2026, almost four months after release, so it shows the set settling rather than its launch week, and that is the right lens for reading it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an Abyss Eye booster pack cost in Japan?

¥200 including tax for 5 cards, per the official Pokémon Card Game product page. The set went on sale in Japan on May 22, 2026. The official page does not state how many packs a box holds, so a box count you see quoted comes from a retailer, not from The Pokémon Company.

What is the most expensive card in Abyss Eye?

The MUR Mega Darkrai ex, 118/081. On October 6, 2026 yuyu-tei listed it at ¥34,800 with 5 copies in stock. The SAR Mega Darkrai ex, 114/081, was second at ¥19,800. No other card in the set was above ¥4,000 at that shop.

How many cards are in Abyss Eye?

The official card search returns 118 cards with the M5 code. The main numbering runs to 081, and the secret rares continue past it up to 118/081, the MUR Mega Darkrai ex. yuyu-tei lists the same 118 cards.

Why is the shop's buyback price so far below its sell price?

The sell price is what the shop charges you; the buyback is what it pays a customer who walks in with the card. The gap covers its margin and the risk of holding stock. On the Abyss Eye MUR the gap widened from 70% to 34% in under three weeks, which tells you the shop is far less eager to take on more copies than it was in mid-September.
