Japan’s retail scene has shifted almost entirely to lotteries and invitation systems for this release, and Japanese collectors’ posts over the past 24 hours paint a clear picture. A widely shared roundup by lottery-tracking account @gamegetnavi (Jul 21) lists the retailers currently running Storm Emeralda lotteries: Amazon (invitation system), Kojima, Pokémon Card Lounge, WonderGoo, Kiddy Land, Yellow Submarine, Dragon Star, Toreca Champion, Cherumo Akihabara, MINT, and Book Off — that is, essentially every major card retailer at once, including the big Akihabara storefronts.

What "invitation system" means on Amazon Japan

Amazon JP sells hyped TCG boxes via 招待制 (invitation requests): you request an invite at MSRP and Amazon selects who gets to buy. Multiple shop and deal accounts confirmed Storm Emeralda BOX is on this system as of July 21. It requires a Japanese Amazon account and address.
